About Me

Hi! I'm Waldo Urribarri, a 29 year old computer programmer from Maracaibo, Venezuela living in Santiago, Chile. I have 3+ years of experience developing for the IBM iSeries platform, 6+ years developing for the web, as well as 5+ years developing for the Android platform (mainly videogames).

I'm also a former musician of various bands, and I've also composed music for videogames.

I love learning technologies, APIs, and programming tricks, that is why I also enjoy writing small articles about different subjects, mainly technology, showing some things that I may be currently learning.

MomoURU (2014)

MomoURU

I developed this application, with Duglimar Ocando as designer, as an independent project to make a mobile client for the Student Services system of the Universidad Rafael Urdaneta (Rafael Urdaneta University), due to the lack of an official one. The first iteration of this client was developed in just 3 days.

Bilumin (2014)

Bilumin

Google Play Store description: Bilumin is an abstract themed game where you control two luminescent spheres or "lumins". You must rotate them to get other small lumins while avoiding the obstacles that fall in between. There will be powerups that keep coming down that affect the behaviour to help (or not) your performance.

I worked as co-designer and lead programmer of this game, using a custom framework built on top of the Android SDK.

Squarebot (2014)

Google Play Store description: The goal of the game is to remember the most steps of an automatically generated sequence, while the speed gradually increases as the bot teaches it to you. Challenge your memory with this simple but addictive game. Win achievements and compete with your friends in the online rankings, or globally with other players.

Starship Constructor (2013)

Starship Constructor

Google Play Store description: You will have to help an alien named Bult to construct as many starships as possible within the time limit, after a meteorite crash on his moon that wrecked all of his work. But it won't be that easy, because to construct much more starships you'll have to sharpen your reflexes and hurry up to best your score.

I worked as co-designer and lead programmer of this game, using a custom framework built on top of the Android SDK. I also recorded and produced all sounds and musical pieces.

Music

Somos Heroes

I'm the former songwriter, singer and guitar player of the band Somos Heroes. This is an extract of the only EP released by the band, 'Inténtalo Otra Vez'. Two of these songs, '16' and 'Estrella' where featured on MTV Demo, winners on both pop and rock categories respectively.

Starship Constructor

I composed 2 songs for a puzzle game for Android. There was a third unused song composed early in the development process.
